			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>so i am finishing week two of my jump start plan to kick my weight loss into high gear.  i am not sure how i actually did the first week since obviously i gained weight at the beach, but unless i gained like 8 pounds i dont think i did very well.  so i changed it up a bit this week and we&#8217;ll see what the scale says on monday.  i should have done well&#8230;who knows.  i have been trying to work out 5 times a week and that helps i am sure.  i am getting some nice bicep muscle tone and my calves are very shaply&#8230;the rest of me&#8230;well&#8230;we won&#8217;t talk about it.  still. over all i have lost and not gained back over 50 pounds so that is quite an accomplishment.  i look better now than i did even a year ago and even better than 2 years ago&#8230;</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>well it has been quite a while since i updated this&#8230;so i guess i can add &#8220;keep up with blog entries&#8221; to my list of new year&#8217;s resolutions&#8230;so far they have been 1. to go to church 3 out of 4 sundays 2. not be grumpy at work  and now 3. keep with blogs.  How fun.</p>
<p> well, before going home for christmas my total weight loss was up to (or down to) 52. 5 pounds.  now that number is at 49&#8230;so all in all not too bad.  i am hoping for a nice loss that will get me back to 52.5 lost this week. we&#8217;ll see.  little by little.  people told me i looked like i was smaller after the holidays so that was encouraging.  i have been taking my measurements as well, though i have not done that since november so maybe it&#8217;s time to check that again. </p>
<p>I did have to punch another hole in my brown belt and have decided that the next time i am in the states i am going to get  a new brown belt.  i discovered that my black belt can be worn on the last notch, and i dont remember that ever happening&#8230;it&#8217;s smaller than my brown one.</p>
<p>so thats the update with me.</p>
<p>i&#8217;ll post a photo when i have a chance!!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>last week at WI i was only down a half a pound.  it actually was not too disappointing and it made me realize how important the little things are.  i indulged a bit too much the week before at a cookout and then i didn&#8217;t exercise for 7 days.  if i had exercised 3, 4 or 5 times, like my goal says i will, i bet i would have lost at least a pound more.  so its the little things.  my friend Shawnna (from my online group with WW) lost 4 pounds in a week just by cutting out eating after 8 pm.   talking wtih Jim, he mentioned that he had been fluctuating with his weight so he cut back on the Baked Lay&#8217;s and lost a pound.  so what i have come to realize is that is the little things that we must pay attention to in order to lose the undesired weight.</p>
<p>i read a self assessment once that was to determine if you were a weight loser by 1. reducing caloric intake 2. exercising 3. both.  i am both. some people can lose weight by just reducing caloric intake, others just by bumping the exercise up a bit.  but i suspect the large majority of us are in the 3rd category.  its important to pay attention to your body and what works.</p>
<p> another little thing i realized is that i <strong>absolutely </strong>have to plan my meals out in advance and shop according to my meal plan. otherwise i am grabbing random junk off the grocery shelves and then later, shoving it in my mouth or else the bojangle&#8217;s sign looks just a little brighter than normal and i think about having a taste of home.  (by the way i have resisted bojangle&#8217;s for 3 straight Sundays! even though my skinny friends go each week after church)</p>
<p>so those are my words of wisdom and deep reflection for this week.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>so, this week i lost 1 pound.  i weighed myself a day early because i knew i was facing some eating challenges.  but still, a pound is a pound.  i am hoping for a 3 pound loss this week. we&#8217;ll see.  so that brings my grand total up to 43 pounds, which i had actually hit quite a while ago, but had gained and lost for about 3 months so now i am back to the 43.  its slow going but i think its worth it to be able to keep the weight off for the rest of life.  for me, this whole journey is about learning how to manage food in my world.  to be able to enjoy things but not OVER enjoy them.  and i am still 43 pounds lighter now than i was when i started!</p>
<p> on the fun side, next Saturday the 14th I am fighting in an intraschool kickboxing tournament. i guess its not really a tournament, i only fight once.  which is fine.  it&#8217;ll be fun.  and its not a big deal just with our school so i can&#8217;t look too bad.  i get a trophy and a certificate and everything, which is actually quite exciting for me because i have never gotten a trophy before. certificates yes, trophies no. i know its just a cheap little one that i am basically paying for with my entry fee but still&#8230;</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>i am not sure what week we are on for the christmas challenge but in all i think i am down four pounds from when i started.  i gained one week, quite a lot but later determined it was from a lot of diet coke the night before, yeah like 9 pounds to be exact.  the next week i was down 6 from the 9 of the week before, but i realized i was still retaining water (still hadnt figured out the diet coke deal) this week i did not drink d.c. for 24 hours before my weigh in and i was down another 2 from the first 2 i had lost&#8230;make sense to you?  the point is.  after about a month, i am down 4 pounds in total. was hoping to be down more but less is better than more.</p>
<p> this week will be a challenging week eating wise. there are a lot of unnormal activities, but i am planning ahead and planning ahead is half the battle, (adapted from G.I. Joe), so i remain hopeful.  i did managed to exercise yesterday (sunday) which is the first weekend i have really done anything since i started the challenge.  tonite will be kickboxing, as is normal for monday nights&#8230;so that is good.</p>
<p> well, i am off to the rest of my day.</p>

<p> started back with kickboxing on wednesday night and boy am i sore.  i think my old body just doesnt bounce back as quickly as it once did.  my ankle is holding out okay (I sprained it hiking in colorado about 3 weeks ago).  my instructor is wrapping it good for me before each class. he also has no commented twice on my shapely and strong nice calves.  they are pretty nice i think.  they are big cause i am big but they aren&#8217;t fat.  in fact, i think they are the only body part i have that is all muscle&#8230;one day in the not so distant future i hope that more of my body follows that trend.</p>

<p>so the update is that in my group of CORE Losers (Core refers to the weight loss program option we are using) we have started a Christmas Challenge.  Everyone set their own goals to work toward until Christmas.  We were finding out that we were just trudging through the motions and had become static in our weight loss efforts so we are undertaking a challenge to get us going.</p>
<p> My goals are:</p>
<p>1.  Follow the food planner online and stay within the guidelines of the program (or stay &#8220;ON Program&#8221; (OP))</p>
<p>2.  Exercise 5 times a week.</p>
<p>3.  And hopefully that will result in a 24 pound weight loss by Christmas!</p>
<p>The first weigh in is this Friday&#8230;I am hopeful&#8230;</p>
